A little bit about me…

Welcome to my blog.  I am a math teacher who occasionally writes as a means of expressing my thoughts and feelings.  Sometimes those thoughts come out in the form of poems, sometimes as essays on a particular topic and sometimes just random ramblings.  If I think it is worth sharing, I will post what I write here.

I started this blog in March 2010 to share my writing after having delivered a sermon at church.  I am not an ordained minister – just a lay member of a Unitarian Universalist congregation who occasionally serves as a pulpit guest.  A woman came up to me after the service and suggested I find ways to share my thoughts more often.  This seemed like the way to go.

The URL of gumballgirl.wordpress.com comes from my childhood nickname, given to me by my dad.  He was on my mind the week I started blogging, as we had just learned that he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.  Even though, at the time, his memory was quickly slipping away, his spirit was still there.  And so I have titled this Blog “The Spirit Within” – I hope to share mine with you and perhaps help you find yours.  Enjoy!

  1. Keep up the great work, Gumball Girl!

  2. Thanks for the reminder. I love my job too!

  3. Hey there C!
Thanks for your xmas card and always-looked-forward-to xmas letter. Sorry that your Dad is living with Alzheimer’s, but so glad to hear that he is now living so close to you and so you can be a family caregiver, but not 100% full time. I haven’t yet had to face caregiving personally yet, but from my professional life, I understand it’s an incredibly complex, difficult, rewarding, but exhausting role to play. Wishing you and J. all the best for 2011! -aeg (Sorry, not on Facebook and never will be!)

  4. I really like your blog and have added it to my blogroll so my readers, too, can lean and be touched by your candid musings on life and its challenges.

  5. It took a bit for me to find you, but you’ve beenSearch Bombed. From the Rocky Mountains! Check your stats…
